Upcoming Events                                                               Montville Township Senior Trash Pick-Up
 

 
The Montville Township Trustees and Montville Road Department are joining forces with Geauga County Department on Aging for the 2020 MontvilleTownship Senior Trash Pick-Up Day September 8th and 9th. In order to be placed on the Trash Pick-up list, you must first register with the Geauga County Department on Aging by September 1st, or earlier, be 60 years of age or older and live in Montville Township. Contact information is below.
 
The Department on Aging can no longer go into seniors homes to pick-up unwanted items. The Montville Township Road Crew and the Department on Aging will pick-up refuse from Montville senior's garages, out buildings, and drives.

 
Please Note the following guidelines:
  • To prevent possible bed bug transferal (or other pest), all mattresses, couches and upholstered furniture MUST be wrapped in plastic and taped securely or they will not be taken.
 
  • The following items will NOT be accepted: Construction/Remodeling debris, liquids, paint or other hazardous materials, rocks, yard waste, or household garbage. Reduce wood or pipe to 6' or less. To prevent possible bed bug transferal, mattresses MUST be wrapped in plastic and taped securely or they will not be taken.  Consolidate all small materials in strong boxes or containers. We will accept unbroken car batteries, lawn mowers, and tires off the rim - 4 per load.

  • Please, Only 10 household items per home, and items should be from the registered senior's household only. Items should be left out the evening before trash pick-up. DO NOT leave items by the curbside.

Remember, only registered seniors can be placed on the pick-up list! Don't wait, call now! Those signing up for pick-up, please have a list of items to be removed.                                                                                                                         
                                                                                                                                    

Montville Friends is a group of men and women who get together weekly to socialize. They meet every Thursday in the Social Room of the Community Center, and are open from 9am-3pm. You don't have to be a senior citizen or a Montville resident to join the group. There is no charge to join in the activities, which include card and game playing, crafts, socializing and of course lunch and snacks. The group is growing in numbers. The Social Room is handicap accessible. They meet year around, but if the schools are closed due to weather, the center will also be closed.

Turkey Shoots are now open year round on the third Sunday of each month. Doors open at 3:00 pm.  Bring your own 12 gauge gun.  Ammo is provided.  Meat, gift cards and cash prizes.
 
Montville FD is joining the Thompson FD and sponsoring  an Easter Candy Drive-Thur April 11th 2020.  To protect our families during the Coronavirus, this will replace the traditional Easter Egg hunt.  The event will be held at the Thompson United Methodist Church from 2:00-4:00 pm or until the candy runs out.  There will be three age groups (3 & under, ages 4-6 and ages 7-10) with 4 golden egg prizes in each age group.  Necessary precautions will be taken and each child will be given a bag of Easter candy and will be asked to look for the "Golden Egg."
 
Montville Firefighters' Association will be having a Mother's Day Flower Sale May 8th 2020 from 5:00-8:00 pm and May 9th 2020 from 9:00 am - 12:00 pm at the Montville Fire Department Training Grounds/Turkey Shoot. Pre-sale orders accepted. See the Montville Firefighters' Association face book page for more information.
 
Clean-up Day is scheduled for September 12th, 2020, from 8:00 am to noon.  Residents must bring their IDs.  We accept appliances (freon must be removed from refrigerators/freezers as well as the doors), furniture, scrap metals and items too large for your weekly trash collection.  We will also accept up to 6 rimless tires.  We do NOT accept concrete/rocks/yard ornaments, liquids, fluorescent bulbs, batteries, yard waste, televisions, computers or propane tanks.  

Montville Firefighters' Association Memorial Day Pancake Breakfast on May 25th 2020 has been cancelled.

Ledgemont Old Timers will host their Class Reunion at the Montville Community Center on July 12th, 2020.  The potluck begins at noon.  Please bring a dish to pass and your own table service.

Montville FD's Clam Bake has been Cancelled and the Chinese Auction has been postponed until a later date.

Montville FD's Halloween Party for pre-school and elementary school kids at the Montville Community Center is Cancelled at this time.
